Dori Bolen Artist/Designer

Charm School was where it all began…

my mother insisted that I should enroll in this class and I am so glad she did.

I was absolutely fascinated by the way you could put certain colors schemes together to create that unique look and highlight your best features while at the same time make you feel good about yourself.
We Learned How to dress for an Occasion as opposed to just dressing for the day and how to choose the right accessory that would accent your outfit and make you stand out in a crowd.
Learning to sew and model my own clothes was second nature to me and I was delighted to win many awards for my artistic accomplishments.
In parallel, I was taking art classes, and I studied painting, sculpting and handcrafted period jewelry; Art History Has Always Been a Huge Interest For Me.

So when the opportunity arose for studying dance and theatrical arts, I don't know if it was the costumes, music or how you could create a feeling by the way you flowed to a certain piano movement that pushed me further into the arts.
I was fortunate enough to receive a dance degree after studying privately with Madam Francis Clark,Francis had studied with Dame Margot Fonteyn in her earlier years;I found That Thrilling.
Francis taught me to achieve grace through movement and how even the simple act of picking up a teacup was an art.
I will never forget my first ballet when I wore a Grecian flowing gown of white chiffon and wore gold leaves in my hair and around my neck while dancing to Debussy's Clair De Lune .

When I was younger, I was also a rock hound and Held a deep fascination with the earth's precious elements, which, at the time, I called rocks.
I have since grown to appreciate the unique dimensions, colorings and healing properties of these precious stones and gems, and now believe they are a necessity when dressing for the day.
You, too, can add that special ADoriables adornment that can make you a true show-stopper, while giving you a special feeling that only nature can.

I also became interested in technology and hold a degree in computer science. In my past positions it gave me the chance to travel to other countries around the world.
While traveling, I observed how other cultures and customs dress and the way in which they used jewelry as an adornment. My favorite country has to be the United Kingdom; this is where I learned the art of Celtic braiding and many past historical trends of adornment.

If you get a chance, you must visit my favorite place to stay while in Edinburgh Scotland called Pilrig House. Its history dates back to the 17th Century. The owner, Phillip Martin, can sometimes be found digging in his garden and, on occasion, unearths a rare jeweled find.
